Andrew Watson & Ian Rutter win tourism award, Moclin

Ian Rutter and Andrew Watson with Award for services to Tourism in Pueblos Moclín, 2022

In late 2016 we, Ian and Andrew, left behind our London home to spend a year of adventure in Andalucia. Little did we know that by 2020 we would have bought and restored a village house in a rural Spanish Village and established a number of small, tourism-centred businesses.

That said, within a couple of weeks of moving to Spain, we both knew that this would be our home. It is very difficult not to succumb to the beauty of the landscapes, the richness of the history and the incredible warmth of the people. The delicious food and gorgeous wines helps, too!

We think we have found the perfect corner of Andalucia in Moclín and it is here we have made our home.

We have been made to feel so unbelievably welcome in this beautiful and hugely historic village. Almost as soon as we arrived we knew that we wanted to share our love of the area with visitors who want to immerse themselves in the culture, the history, the landscapes, the food and wine, the art and the music of Andalucia.

Alfie

Alfie

In the summer of 2019 we were adopted by the latest little addition to our family. Alfredo, or Alfie for short, was found abandoned in the campo near the home of some friends, and he rather quickly found his way into our lives. He is a jolly and friendly little chap with bags of character, and he looks forward to greeting all our guests with his infectious enthusiasm…

In June 2023 we are opening our second venture in Moclín, ESPERANZA 9. Its a two bedroom self-catering cottage a few streets away from Casa Higueras. If you are wanting to stay a little longer (minimum three night stays) this may be another option.

The hosts of Casa Higuera, Ian and Andrew, gave us a first class welcome into their stunning Andalusian village property. The en-suite bedroom is charming and comfortable - amazing bed and bedding! Dinner was a selection of delicious tapas using locally sourced fresh produce, some of them grown in their own vegetable garden.
